Welcome to Kimono Yukata Market Sakura.

To increase awareness about the Japanese tradition of wearing kimono and yukata among people all over the world.
We believe it is our mission to tell people all over the world about traditional kimono and yukata, which are such important parts of Japanese culture.
As lovers of Japanese kimono and yukata, we also believe it is our mission to do as much as we can to preserve these traditions. As we strive toward our first and second visions, we also want to keep this wonderful part of Japanese culture alive. We do this while maintaining our close relationship with customers who love kimono as much as we do.

One day, as I was surfing online, I noticed that Japanese kimonos were being sold abroad on online shopping sites. However, the "Japanese Kimonos" I saw were very different from what most Japanese people would imagine when they think of kimonos: some were too short in length, others were made with cheap-looking shiny fabric, and yet more had strange pattern designs. And these were all being sold as "Traditional Japanese Kimonos..." I was very shocked to see such fake kimonos being casually sold as the real thing.

I also felt very frustrated that people abroad would not learn about the true culture of Japan. I wondered to myself, isn't there anything I can do to tell more people abroad about the real beauty of Japanese kimonos and the incredible techniques of Japanese craftsmen? Can't I do something to help them discover it? And of course, the answer I arrived at was to open my own online kimono shop.

But in the first month, we sold only three kimonos.
I had many things I wanted to share about kimono with people abroad.
That was the beginning of my challenge.
Because I live in Tokyo, I was lucky enough to have many opportunities to learn about kimono from experts, and I spent many hours studying them. Finally, I was able to fulfill my wish to help people all over the world learn more about and enjoy real Japanese kimono and yukata.
Always more than 1000 different kimono designs in stock
Fortunately for us, having an office in Tokyo means easy access to finding the city's most beautiful and colorful kimono. This advantage allows us to stock a huge number of Japanese kimono and yukata.
In the past, Tokyo was known as Edo. It was the political, economic, and cultural center of Japan, and people brought kimono from their hometowns with them when they came to the capital. Even now, kimono culture in Tokyo is flourishing, and Tokyo is home to many different styles of kimono from all over the country. You can easily find brand-new Japanese kimono and yukata, in addition to many high-quality vintage kimono still in beautiful condition.
Our kimono and yukata are genuine, high-quality pieces
Occasionally, kimono and obi belts are described as a “wearable art form,” because they are much more than simple clothing. Each piece has a delicate beauty that is difficult to express in words. This beauty is the result of the special techniques and collaboration of several skilled craftsmen. One craftsman creates the design, another dyes the fabric, another weaves the fabric, and finally a tailor puts the kimono together.
Sometimes, stores online or abroad misleadingly claim to sell genuine Japanese kimono and yukata. There are even some made from satin-like fabrics that look more like lingerie than real kimono. Kimono and yukata like that do not exist in Japan. When making Japanese kimono and yukata, artisans rely on aesthetic sense, techniques, culture, traditions, and values passed down from generation to generation. Only with this knowledge can a true kimono be created, comfortable to wear and unmatched in beauty. A real kimono should delight your skin, your eyes, and especially your heart.
Our kimono and yukata are reasonably priced
Yukata
In Japan, most orders for yukata are made during spring and summer. Fall and winter are slow seasons for this industry. Because demand for yukata varies throughout the year, many businesses raise their yukata prices during spring and summer. However, we are able to offer brand-new, high-quality yukata at consistently reasonable prices. Our secret is our customer base located all over the world. Regardless of the season in Japan, we continue selling yukata to customers around the world throughout the year. This means our wholesalers and manufacturers also receive steady orders from us, enabling them to offer us better prices.
Kimono
Japanese kimono require several months of hard work to make, and because of this, they are more expensive than yukata. A new kimono can cost over ¥100,000, and some can cost more than ¥1,000,000. Even for people living in Japan, kimono are not something many people can easily buy. At our store, we are able to sell kimono at more reasonable prices than many retail stores. One of our strengths is buying through kimono auctions. Special permission is required to participate in kimono auctions, and only a limited number of professional kimono retailers have this privilege.

Since opening Kimono Market Sakura, over 10,000 fans of kimono and Japanese culture from more than 80 countries have purchased Japanese kimono, yukata, and hakama through our store. Doing business in English, which isn't my native language, is challenging. However, every day I am encouraged by the happy thank-you messages and beautiful photos of customers wearing their kimono. I feel extremely grateful every day to the amazing customers who have helped Kimono Yukata Market Sakura grow from a small store into one of Japan's leading online kimono stores.
Please get to know who we are. We would like to introduce our visions, stories, and companions. We hope this helps you enjoy kimono even more.
