About products

Q What do I need to buy to wear a yukata?
A You need a yukata kimono, a koshi himo, and an obi belt.
Juban (underwear) is not a necessary item but it can keep you feeling beautiful and comfortable in hot or humid weather. You can wear sandals that you already have, but we definitely recommend geta sandals to beautifully complete the look.
If you are a yukata beginner, we recommend buying a yukata kimono and an obi & geta sandals set together.
You can get all the items you need to wear a yukata kimono at a reasonable price.

Of course, you can also enjoy it by wearing it in your own original way like cosplaying!
Q What do I need to buy to wear a kimono?
A You need a kimono, juban (underwear for kimono), koshi himo, and an obi belt.
For footwear, you can wear whatever you like but we recommend wearing geta sandals or zori sandals with tabi socks.
It makes you look very elegant and beautiful. In addition, we also recommend styling your hair or using obi belt accessories, such as "obi dome" and "obi jime".
Q What do I need to buy to wear a hakama?
A You need a yukata kimono or Japanese kimono and a hakama. You don't need an obi belt.
We recommend wearing geta sandals or setta sandals with your hakama pants. If you also wear tabi socks, it will look very cool.
Q What do I need to buy to wear jinbei?
A You only need a set of jinbei. Because there are strings already attached, you don't need an obi belt.
You can wear sandals that you already have, but we definitely recommend geta sandals or setta sandals.
Q My yukata kimono (or Japanese kimono) is too long and touches the floor. I think I got the wrong size.
A Japanese yukata kimonos and Japanese kimonos are naturally very long and touch the floor, but you can adjust the length. Please read the page How to Wear.
Also, please take a look at Learn About Kimono when you have some time.
You'll find the answer to why yukata kimonos and Japanese kimonos are so long.
Q I can smell mothballs on my Japanese kimono.
A Japanese traditional kimonos are made from pure silk, so mothballs are sometimes used to avoid to getting moth holes.
They aren't harmful to your health, but if you mind the smell, dry your kimono in the shade for a few days.
Or, using the cool setting on your iron, steam the inside of your kimono to soften the smell.
Q How should I store my yukata kimono / Japanese kimono?
A Please fold your yukata kimono or Japanese kimono by following the instructional video "How to Fold" on the How to Wear page, and keep it in your closet.
Neatly folding your yukata kimono / Japanese kimono prevents wrinkling. If your Japanese kimonos are made of pure silk, it’s best to keep your kimonos in an airy place or in your closet with dehumidfiers, and use mothballs to prevent them from getting moldy and moth-eaten.
